How long will my physiotherapy treatment last for?
Your initial assessment will be booked for one hour when the physiotherapist will discuss your problem and perform a comprehensive physical assessment to identify the source of the problem. The diagnosis and prognosis will then be discussed with you and a treatment plan agreed.Your treatment plan will usually begin at the first session and will be designed to fit with your lifestyle.
What should I wear?
To obtain an accurate diagnosis and to treat the problem appropriately we usually require to see the affected areas. We recommend a loose and comfortable fitting top for upper limb, shoulder, neck and back problems and shorts for any problems presented in your lower back and legs. It is advisable to bring trainers should they be required for rehabilitation.
Will it hurt?
We will always do our best to avoid any discomfort, however, physiotherapy assessment and treatments can occasionally exacerbate your symptoms for a short while as we move towards resolving your problems. Your physiotherapist will always explain any treatment and side affects with you to gain your consent.
How many treatments will I require?
The number of sessions required is dependant on your presenting condition and varies between individuals. The sooner you attend physiotherapy following injury or diagnosis, the quicker it is to resolve your problems and the better the outcome.
How long are the follow up treatments?
At the Physiotherapy Rooms we believe in high quality one to one manual therapy and program our sessions to accomodate this. Your follow up sessions will be programmed for 45 minutes, however, you may not require all this time depending on your problem.
Do I have to be a member at Total Fitness?
No. The Physiotherapy Rooms is a private clinic room based in the safe and pleasant environment at Total Fitness in Huddersfield. If, however your physiotherapy requires use of gym facilities including hydrotherapy you will have access to the facilities with your therapist. You never know, you may be tempted to join this excellent facility.
