About Us

David Atkinson (owner and founder) & Ruth Johnson are Chartered and State Registered physiotherapists. Both physiotherapists are registered with the Health Professional Council and are clinical specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal pain, sports injuries and neurological rehabilitation. Between them they have over 32 years of clinical experience in the treatment of these conditions and both continue to attend courses and maintain their continuous professional development as required to maintain their skills for providing a top quality service.

 

David Atkinson BSc (Hon) Physiotherapy, MCSP, HPC Reg.

After qualifying from Bradford University David served the equivalent of the physiotherapy "appenticeship" in the NHS in Manchester. He became a clinical specialist in rehabilitation before becoming a manager of several physiotherapy services including musculoskeletal outpatients, rehabilitation and neurological services.

In 2008 excellence was recognised by reaching the finals of the highly prestigious Health Service Journal awards in London and then winning the Health and Social Care award with a team of therapists. David also worked for a period of time at the Berkshire Institute in Pennsylvania USA at the time of the Atlanta games where some of the worlds top athletes attend to see some of the worlds top physios.

David is a very keen sportsman having completed the grand prix series at olympic distance triathlon and continues to swim with the masters at Total Fitness. He believes his ability to integrate musculoskeletal and neurological elements with a good understanding of sport and normal movement through participation, enable him to give his patients a top quality service.

Ruth Johnson Grad Dip Physiotherapy, MCSP, HPC reg

Ruth has over 20 years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist working in musculoskeletal health. After spending several years employed by the NHS, which all good therapists do, she moved to the Nuffield Hospitals where she set up a successful sports injury clinic. Recognised as a top class physiotherapist Ruth was selected to work for the British Paralympic team for a number of years which culminated in her supporting the team at the olympic games in Atlanta.Ruth is also a keen athlete and is often seen out and about in her running gear.
